in the Victorian times there were workhouses and in those workhouses there were mostly children sometimes they were adults there work was the same everyday school work sleep and if they were to get something wrong or speak in class then they would get slashed on the hand with a thick rope the people who owned the workhouse were normally mean and bitter at dinner or lunch or breakfast they would have to eat silently or else they had to eat in a thing that pigs eat out of called a trouth it was disgusting they went bead at a very early time there work was normally cleaning and picking at rope the remaining pieces were made into harder ropes and bed blankets sometimes. when they tried to escape they would always get caught by the police and slashed in till they were good they would be trapped in upstairs room they would sit there and look out of the boarded window.
